The New Hospital Building of RIMS was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Health,Medical and Family Welfare Dr.D.L.Ravindra Reddy on 21 September 2011.People are also receiving costly drugs for free through the PRANA DATHA pharmacy set up in the hospital premises.
DIALYSIS UNIT |
A 24 Hours Dialysis unit,inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister Sri.Dharmana Prasada Rao on 29/07/2010.There is a higher incidence of kidney disease in Srikakulam district-more so in Uddanam area.This dialysis unit,established under PPP model in cooperation with B Braun & Co., became a helping hand for the people of the district who cannot afford expensive procedures of dialysis in private hospitals.

AROGYA SRI ward,inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister Sri. Kondru Muralimohan Rao on 19/12/2012.About 202 camps had been conducted under RAJIV AROGYASRI scheme and nearly 16,000 patients had been benefited from the camps. Under this scheme, out of 3,516 patients identified, about 2200 had been operated.
The Centralised Drug Store with two special cold storerooms, which can keep medicines and drugs at minus 25 degree Celsius, was inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on the premises of RIMS .The central drug store holds 298 drugs, medicines, and parenterals worth Rs.3.16 crore and has two ice-lined coolers (ILCs) which hold 56 items. The ILCs store items like anti-rabies vaccine, medicines for dialysis, gyneac problems, anaesthetics, insulin, and vials of TT. The ultra cold storerooms hold drugs and medicines used in head injuries, sticks for diabetes and pregnancy testing kits and anti snake venom, among others. The facility caters to the requirements of all PHCs, urban health centres, community health centres, and government hospitals in the district.

On 05/04/2013 the new auditorium, male and female resident hostels were inaugurated by Sri Dharmana Prasada Rao garu and Sri Kondru Muralimohan Rao garu.
Of the total 21 departments working in the college,18 departments are directly providing services to the patients.
Daily nearly 1000 patients are receiving health services. Nearly 20-30 operations are being performed in the hospital daily.
CASUALITY |
24 hr Emergency Services are being provided through the trauma care (casuality) unit of the hospital. Nearly 50 people are joining in emergencies.Yearly around 1000 patients are being treated from very dangerous diseases
Under NBCP(NATIONAL BLINDNESS CONTROL PROGRAMME), weekly camps are conducted in the remote areas of the district to identify the patients effected with cataract and were operated. About 150 operations per month are being performed under this programme to decrease blindness due to cataract in district.
BLOOD BANK

A 24 hour blood bank which also provides blood components is a part of RIMS. It had conducted 36 camps in 2012-13 and collected 3433 units from the voluntary donors and 3413 units were supplied free to the patient.
To meet the needs of the sick new born and the malnourished children, NRC & SNCU had been established in the hospital. These have a bed occupancy rate of 90-100 and 24 hours Specialist Services.
Under J SY scheme, nearly 895 women were benefited in the year 2012-13. Free transport , food, Medical, Laboratory, Surgical services have been provided to the pregnant women under JSSK Scheme.
Preliminary checkup counters for screening and rapid health care delivery to out patients, water purifiers and water coolers, multi sitter chairs in waiting halls are the new recent developments in the hospital.

Challenges Ahead!
Out of 13 buildings to be constructed, only 7 buildings had been constructed as on date. The remaining buildings nearer to be constructed for providing more health services to the people.
Nursing college had been sanctioned to the institutions and still needed to be constructed.
